Business Analyst

About the Role

Southwark Council is looking for an experienced Business Analyst to play a key role in supporting organisational change and transformation across a range of high-impact services and programmes.

You will analyse complex business problems, capture and define requirements, identify opportunities for improvement and help shape effective solutions. Working as a bridge between strategy, service delivery and technology, you will use your understanding of business processes, resident and staff needs and future operating models to support meaningful change.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Business Analyst with experience in business process improvement, transformation, requirements gathering and stakeholder engagement to work within a dynamic local authority environment.

• Manage and deliver business analysis across a range of transformation programmes and projects, from discovery through to delivery. Using NEC
• Gather, analyse and synthesise information from data, user research, process observation, operational performance and stakeholder engagement.
• Identify business problems, opportunities and areas for improvement across services and programmes.
• Map and analyse current and future business processes.
• Capture, analyse and prioritise business and service requirements.
• Evaluate potential solutions and provide evidence-based recommendations.
• Work collaboratively with service leads, project and programme managers, technical teams and external partners.
• Support the development and implementation of improved business processes and operating models.
• Ensure proposed changes are aligned with organisational priorities and deliver measurable outcomes.
• Apply business analysis tools, techniques, standards and methodologies effectively.
• Support colleagues in developing their business analysis capability and promote best practice across the organisation.
• Contribute to service design, resident-focused improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure analysis and recommendations are informed by the needs of residents, staff and service users.

We are looking for a Business Analyst who can demonstrate:

• Proven experience working as a Business Analyst or in a similar business change, transformation or service improvement role.
• Strong experience of requirements gathering, analysis and prioritisation.
• Experience of business process mapping and process improvement.
• Ability to analyse complex business problems and develop practical solutions.
• Experience using data, research and operational information to inform recommendations.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Experience working with a range of stakeholders, including service managers, project teams and technical specialists.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working on transformation, organisational change or service improvement projects.
• A structured and evidence-based approach to business analysis.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver work to deadlines.

• Previous experience working within a local authority or wider public sector environment.
• Experience of working on large-scale transformation or service improvement programmes.
• Knowledge of service design and resident/customer journey mapping.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary project and programme teams
