Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist secondary SEN school in West London for an enthusiastic and experienced Nurture Teacher to teach a Year 7 class from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher who understands that successful teaching within an SEMH environment is about much more than delivering lessons. You will need to be able to build strong relationships, create a calm and structured classroom and help pupils develop the confidence and emotional skills needed to engage with education.
The RoleYou will take responsibility for a Year 7 Nurture class, delivering a broad and engaging programme designed around the individual needs of pupils.
The successful candidate will be confident teaching across a range of subjects, with particular importance placed on English and Maths.
You will work closely with support staff and the wider SEN team to provide a consistent, nurturing and highly structured learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging lessons to a Year 7 Nurture class.
- Teach across the curriculum with a strong focus on English and Maths.
- Differentiate learning to meet individual SEN needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and engagement.
- Use positive behaviour strategies and restorative approaches.
- Maintain a calm, consistent and structured classroom environment.
- Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching accordingly.
- Work closely with TAs, the SEND team and wider school staff.
- Support pupils in developing independence, confidence and resilience.
The successful candidate will:
- Hold QTS - essential.
- Have previous experience working in an SEN school - essential.
- Have strong experience working with pupils with SEMH needs - essential.
- Be confident teaching English and Maths to Year 7 pupils.
- Have experience working within a Nurture, SEMH or specialist setting.
- Be highly skilled in behaviour management and relationship building.
- Understand trauma-informed and nurturing approaches to education.
- Be calm, patient and consistent.
- Have high expectations while recognising and responding to individual pupil needs.
- Be passionate about helping young people who have struggled within mainstream education.
