Working Arrangement: Hybrid, with a remote working option
Rate: £250 per day
Contract: Temporary
We are currently recruiting for an experienced SENDSTART Caseworker to join a team in Wirral, supporting children and young people aged 0–25 through the Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the main point of contact for parents/carers and young people engaging in the EHC assessment process.
- Coordinate EHC assessments for children and young people aged 0–25.
- Ensure children, young people and their families are fully involved, with their views accurately captured.
- Work collaboratively with families, schools and professionals across education, health, social care and the voluntary sector.
- Ensure statutory assessments and reviews are completed within the required timescales.
- Prepare draft Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Facilitate meaningful annual reviews of existing EHCPs.
- Attend mediation sessions where required.
- Support managers in representing the Council at SEND Tribunal (SENDIST) proceedings.
- Work in accordance with Part 3 of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice.
- Significant experience working within SEND/EHC assessment and review processes.
- Strong knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice.
- Experience managing EHC assessment caseloads and preparing EHCPs.
- Excellent communication and multi-agency working skills.
- Experience working with families, schools and professionals across education, health and social care.
- Understanding of SEND mediation and tribunal processes would be advantageous.
