About this job
Purchasing & Logistics Coordinator
Monday - Friday - 8.30am - 5pm
12-month fixed-term contract
Stoke-on-Trent
Competitive
We're working with a highly successful international organisation to recruit a Purchase & Logistics Coordinator to join their UK team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and commercially minded individual with purchasing experience who enjoys keeping things moving, building strong supplier relationships and looking for ways to make processes more efficient.
Purpose of the Job
The position sits within the Supply Chain & Logistics function, working closely with the Supply Chain Manager as well as the wider Logistics and Warehouse teams.
You'll form an important part of the UK operation, with the role also having crossover with Sales and Administration, so this is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working collaboratively across a business rather than being confined to one area.
Your role will be to help coordinate the purchasing and movement of goods both into and out of the business, ensuring everything is ordered accurately, delivered efficiently and available when needed.
And if you're someone who naturally looks at a process and thinks "surely there's a better way of doing this?" — even better!
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinating the direct purchase of goods and materials from approved suppliers
- Raising and managing purchase orders, ensuring quantities, pricing and delivery dates are accurate
- Liaising with suppliers to confirm orders, lead times and delivery requirements
- Supporting the coordination of inbound and outbound deliveries with logistics providers and hauliers
- Tracking deliveries and proactively dealing with delays or issues
- Monitoring stock requirements and supplier lead times
- Identifying and escalating potential shortages or supply issues
- Working closely with the Supply Chain, Logistics and Warehouse teams to ensure purchasing and delivery requirements are aligned
- Supporting the resolution of delivery discrepancies, damages, shortages and invoice queries
- Maintaining accurate purchasing, delivery and logistics records
- Building positive working relationships with suppliers and logistics partners
- Supporting the review of purchasing and freight costs and identifying opportunities for improved efficiency
- Ensuring all relevant purchasing and logistics documentation is completed accurately and on time
- Contributing to ongoing improvements across purchasing, logistics and supply chain processes
- Working with other departments, including Sales and Administration, where required
- Providing general support to the wider Supply Chain team
Desired Skills and Experience
We're looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated and proactive individual who enjoys being part of a busy team and takes pride in getting things done.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in purchasing - this is preferred
- Experience within logistics, supply chain or a coordination environment would be advantageous
- Good commercial awareness and an understanding of purchasing and delivery processes
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with suppliers, logistics providers and internal teams
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent attention to detail
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving
- Good IT and systems skills
- Experience using an ERP or purchasing system would be advantageous
About you
We're looking for someone who is:
Enthusiastic and well-motivated Organised and commercially aware A confident communicator Proactive and able to use their own initiative Naturally focused on efficiency and continuous improvement A collaborative team player Energetic, resilient and solutions-focused Comfortable working across different areas of a business Keen to learn, develop and make a genuine contribution
This isn't simply a role where you'll be raising purchase orders and chasing deliveries.
You'll be joining an established UK team and playing a key role within the supply chain operation, working across purchasing, logistics, warehouse, sales and administration.
It's a role where good organisation, communication and commercial thinking can genuinely make a difference — and where there is plenty of scope to get involved, learn and improve the way things are done.
If you have purchasing experience, enjoy working with people and suppliers, and are looking for a varied role within a busy Supply Chain & Logistics environment, we'd love to hear from you.
