Freelance Mid-weight Social Strategist

We're looking for an experienced Social Strategist to join a leading agency on a freelance basis, working on the development of a social strategy for a major UK retailer. This is a hands-on strategic role requiring someone who can plug into the team quickly, work autonomously and deliver high-quality thinking at pace.

• Hybrid - 2 days per week in the London office

You'll take ownership of developing a clear and actionable social strategy, combining audience and cultural insight, platform behaviours and brand objectives to shape the retailer's approach across social.

The role will involve conducting research and social listening, identifying key insights and opportunities, developing content pillars, channel/platform recommendations and strategic frameworks, and translating these into compelling decks and presentations for internal teams and clients.

• 5+ years' experience in social strategy and content planning, ideally within an agency environment.
• Strong experience across B2C/consumer brands, with grocery, retail or other large-scale "heart of the nation" brand experience highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of social platforms, content pillars, cultural trends and platform best practice.
• Confident conducting research, developing strategic narratives, building decks and presenting recommendations directly to clients.
• Comfortable using tools including Brandwatch, GWI, Google Trends, TikTok Creative Centre and native platform analytics.
• Able to work autonomously, manage tight deadlines and deliver at pace with minimal oversight.
• Previous freelance/contract experience advantageous, with the ability to quickly embed into an existing agency team.
