Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is establishing a new Intensive & Assertive Care Service to provide ongoing care, treatment and clinical leadership for individuals with severe mental illness, complex psychosis and high levels of need requiring sustained, intensive and assertive support.
We welcome applications from consultants wishing to work flexibly and would particularly encourage applications for:
- Three consultants working 0.5 WTE each
- Alternative combinations that deliver the equivalent of 1.5 WTE
This is an opportunity for clinicians who are motivated by complexity, value long-term therapeutic work and want to help develop a leading model of intensive and assertive community care across Norfolk and Suffolk.
Main duties of the job
The service has been developed in response to the needs of a highly complex cohort of individuals whose presentations are often characterised by treatment resistance, recurrent relapse, difficulties engaging with traditional models of care, significant Mental Health Act requirements, social exclusion, homelessness, forensic complexity and marked physical health inequalities. These individuals frequently require long-term therapeutic relationships, flexible models of engagement and coordinated multi-agency support that extends beyond traditional service boundaries.
The service aims to provide continuity of Responsible Clinician leadership, specialist expertise in treatment-resistant psychosis and clozapine management, assertive community engagement and enhanced partnership working across health, social care, housing, criminal justice and voluntary sector services.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of an innovative and integrated service model designed to improve outcomes for some of the most vulnerable people served by the Trust.
The post holder must be registered with the GMC. The post holder must also have an entry on the GMC Specialist Register (CCST) in Adult Psychiatry (or within three months of completion of CCST). Applications from those wishing to work flexibly or those wishing to develop academic or special interest sessions are welcomed.
