Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the project from initiation through design, build, migration, testing, cutover and handover into BAU.
  • Develop and maintain the overall project plan, milestones, dependencies, RAID log and delivery schedule.
  • Coordinate the deployment of the new Cisco Secure Firewall infrastructure, including FMC HA and multiple firewall HA pairs.
  • Manage the programme of legacy firewall configuration and policy migration, ensuring appropriate technical review, testing and sign-off.
  • Coordinate the migration of Cisco Catalyst 3850 switch stacks to Catalyst 9300 infrastructure.
  • Work closely with Network/Security Consultants, Architects and operational teams to ensure technical deliverables are completed to agreed timescales.
  • Plan and coordinate production change windows, migrations and cutovers, including rollback planning and business communications.
  • Manage dependencies between firewall, routing/BGP, switching and associated infrastructure changes.
  • Ensure appropriate HLD/LLD, implementation plans, migration plans, test plans, rollback plans and operational handover documentation are produced and approved.
  • Manage technical and business risks, issues, actions and dependencies through to resolution.
  • Coordinate CAB/change-management submissions and approvals where required.
  • Provide clear project reporting to technical and senior stakeholders, including progress, risks, milestones and financial/resource position.
  • Manage third-party suppliers and vendors where required.
  • Ensure successful transition into operational support following implementation.
Required Experience
  • Strong experience delivering enterprise network and/or network security infrastructure projects.
  • Previous delivery experience involving firewall deployments, upgrades or migrations.
  • Experience managing projects involving Cisco networking and security technologies would be highly desirable.
  • Experience managing network switch refresh/migration programmes, ideally involving Cisco Catalyst infrastructure.
  • Good understanding of enterprise networking concepts including routing, BGP, switching, high availability, firewalls and network security.
  • Experience managing complex infrastructure migrations within live production environments.
  • Strong understanding of change management, implementation planning, testing, cutover and rollback processes.
  • Proven experience coordinating Network Engineers, Security Engineers, Consultants and Architects.
  • Strong RAID, dependency and stakeholder-management capabilities.
  • Experience managing third-party suppliers and multiple technical workstreams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical delivery issues into clear business impact and project risk.

  • Experience delivering projects involving Cisco Secure Firewall / Firepower / FTD / FMC.
  • Exposure to Cisco Catalyst 3850 and 9300 environments.
  • Experience delivering projects involving BGP/routing changes alongside firewall migrations.
  • Cisco infrastructure transformation or data centre/network refresh experience.
  • Relevant project management certification such as PRINCE2, PMP, AgilePM or equivalent.
