The Opportunity

An established manufacturing operation is seeking an experienced Technical Team Leader to oversee a team of Production Maintenance Technicians and Electricians, providing strong technical leadership and ensuring a reliable engineering service across manufacturing and assembly operations.


This is a hands-on leadership position where you will be responsible for coordinating the engineering team, supporting production priorities and ensuring maintenance activity is delivered safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.


The successful candidate will combine strong engineering knowledge with the ability to lead, develop and motivate a technical team in a fast-paced production environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate a team of Maintenance Technicians and Electricians, ensuring engineering resource is aligned with operational priorities.
  • Take ownership of the day-to-day engineering service provided to Production and Assembly teams.
  • Respond to operational and equipment issues, ensuring problems are appropriately prioritised and resolved with minimal impact on production.
  • Monitor equipment condition and maintenance requirements to support high levels of availability, reliability and performance.
  • Ensure planned and reactive maintenance is completed effectively and in line with relevant equipment and manufacturer requirements.
  • Provide technical support when diagnosing complex equipment faults and assist the team in identifying effective, long-term solutions.
  • Maintain strong communication with Production, Engineering, Quality, Safety and other relevant functions.
  • Ensure engineering issues are clearly communicated, prioritised and progressed in line with production requirements.
  • Develop the technical capability of the team through coaching, knowledge sharing, training and day-to-day support.
  • Encourage the team to stay current with new equipment, technologies, maintenance techniques and engineering practices.
  • Set a positive example in relation to safety, quality, professionalism and engineering standards.
  • Drive a proactive approach to maintenance and encourage the identification of recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability, efficiency and overall production performance.
  • Contribute to LEAN activities and promote a culture of structured problem solving and operational excellence.
  • Take responsibility for engineering improvement projects, coordinating activity through to successful implementation.
  • Work collaboratively across departments to deliver projects and technical improvements.
  • Ensure engineering work is completed in accordance with site safety procedures, quality requirements, regulatory obligations and relevant standards.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and challenge unsafe or non-compliant practices.
  • Maintain appropriate engineering documentation and ensure relevant records are completed accurately.
  • Support wider site initiatives and act as a technical point of reference when required.


What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in an engineering maintenance role within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience supervising, leading or coordinating an engineering/maintenance team.
  • Strong electrical and/or mechanical maintenance knowledge.
  • Experience diagnosing faults on production machinery and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • A good understanding of planned preventative maintenance and equipment reliability.
  • Experience working closely with Production teams in a high-output manufacturing environment.
  • The ability to prioritise competing engineering requirements and make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and develop others.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem solving.
  • An understanding of LEAN principles and their application within engineering or manufacturing.
  • A strong commitment to health, safety, quality and compliance.

Package
