Senior Programme Officer

Hays are recruiting for a Senior Programme Officer on behalf of a large public sector organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced programme support, project coordination or senior administration professional to join a busy and collaborative team supporting the successful delivery of multiple programmes and stakeholder initiatives.
Working within a fast-paced environment, you will provide high quality programme and operational support, helping to ensure projects, funding streams, events and governance activities are delivered effectively and in line with agreed objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide programme support across a portfolio of projects and initiatives
- Coordinate meetings, workshops, review panels and stakeholder events
- Manage programme administration, governance and reporting activities
- Produce high-quality written communications, reports and briefing materials
- Support financial administration, contract management and budget monitoring activities
- Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
- Build and maintain effective relationships across a diverse stakeholder community
- Monitor programme progress and maintain accurate records and audit trails
- Contribute to process improvements and development of operational procedures
- Support and guide junior administrative staff where required
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Previous experience in programme support, project coordination, PMO, grants administration or a senior administrative position
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience producing reports, presentations and management information
- Good financial administration or budget management experience
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- The ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively as part of a wider team
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience
Experience gained within the public sector, healthcare, education, research, professional services or another regulated environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
