Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Higher Level Dental Nurse to join the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontic Department at Salford Royal Hospital.
You must be registered with the General Dental Council and hold a recognised Dental Nursing qualification. A post qualification certificate in Dental Radiography and/or Dental Conscious Sedation is essential. Experience within Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics is highly desirable.The successful candidate will provide specialist dental nursing support across Oral Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics, delivering high quality care to a diverse patient group, including those with complex medical, physical, sensory and learning needs. The role offers the opportunity to utilise and develop enhanced clinical skills, working closely with consultants, specialty doctors, trainees and the wider multidisciplinary team.
As a Higher Level Dental Nurse, you will play a key role in supporting service delivery, undertaking nurse-led activities, quality assurance processes, patient education, supervision of learners and contributing to the ongoing development of the department
Main duties of the job
Deliver high quality specialist dental nursing care within Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontic services. Provide chairside support for a wide range of dental and surgical procedures, including complex treatments and intravenous sedation. Undertake dental radiography in accordance with IR(ME)R regulations and departmental protocols. Support nurse-led clinics including oral health promotion, radiography and pre-operative assessment clinics. Provide patients and carers with specialist advice, education and pre and post-operative instructions. Maintain quality assurance processes relating to radiography, medical emergency equipment, dental equipment and infection prevention and control. Support the management and organisation of clinics, ensuring effective use of resources and maintaining high standards of patient care. Supervise, support and mentor dental nursing colleagues, apprentices and learners within the clinical environment. Contribute to audit, service improvement initiatives and the development of clinical policies and procedures. Support the day-to-day running of the department.
