Role Title: Assistant Finance Manager
Type: Interim 3 to 6-month contract
Day Rate: Up to £250 per day inside IR35
Hybrid: 2 days per week in the office
Location: Buckinghamshire
Sellick Partnership are working with a public sector organisation who are seeking an experienced Assistant Finance Manager to join their finance team on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional with strong schools finance experience to support financial planning, budget management, reporting and stakeholder engagement.
The successful candidate will support the wider finance function, including providing guidance to finance colleagues, working closely with budget holders and supporting the effective financial management of maintained schools. The role will also involve regular travel to school sites across Buckinghamshire.
The responsibilities of the Assistant Finance Manager will be:
- Supporting budget setting, financial planning, monitoring and forecasting across the service.
- Providing financial advice and guidance to budget holders and senior stakeholders.
- Supporting and overseeing members of the finance team, including accountants.
- Producing clear financial reports and presenting financial information to senior stakeholders and non-finance audiences.
- Supporting year-end accounts, financial controls and statutory reporting requirements.
- Using Power BI and financial systems to analyse performance, identify trends and provide meaningful financial insight.
The ideal candidate for the Assistant Finance Manager role will have:
- Strong previous schools finance / education finance experience.
- A recognised accountancy qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA or CIPFA.
- Experience with budget management, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Strong Power BI skills and experience presenting financial information.
- Previous experience supporting or managing finance staff.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle, with regular travel to maintained school sites required.
