Apply for this job

Job summary

Pemberton Surgery is a forward-thinking, high-achieving training practice serving approximately 10,400 patients in Wigan, Greater Manchester.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic 4 session Salaried GP to join our supportive and well-established team on a 6-month maternity cover basis, with the potential for a permanent role for the right candidate. We are a very supportive training practice and mentorship/supervision for newly qualified GPs is available.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly, professional and caring practice, with the stability of a fixed-term post alongside the possibility of longer-term progression within the team.

We are passionate about delivering safe, effective and patient-centred care. Our multidisciplinary team embraces innovation and technology to enhance patient access, supported by a well-established total triage model (AskMyGP, transitioning to Accurx).

We understand the pressures of a busy general practice and we pride ourselves on achieving a good working environment, providing support from the GP partners.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care across a range of clinical presentations
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary practice team
  • Manage a clinical workload supported by an effective triage system
  • Contribute to maintaining safe and efficient services
  • Participate in practice and PCN working where appropriate

The successful candidate will be encouraged to contribute positively to the practice, with potential for longer-term development should a permanent role become available.

About us

Pemberton Surgery is a friendly and supportive training practice with a strong team-based ethos.

Our team includes:

  • 4 GP partners
  • 2 Salaried GPs
  • Practice Nurses (2 WTE)
  • Healthcare Assistant
  • Clinical Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician
  • Experienced administrative and management team

We are rated Good overall by CQC, with Outstanding in one domain, reflecting our commitment to high-quality care.

We are part of Wigan Central PCN and work closely with neighbouring practices and the wider health system.

We operate a well-established total triage model and use EMIS and Docman systems to ensure GP workload is manageable and focused on patients with the greatest clinical need.
