Senior Accountant 6 month FTC to go permanent!

Reed Finance are currently partnering with an established SME in North Oxfordshire who are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join the business on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract, with the role becoming permanent after this period. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will play a key role in managing the finance function and supporting the wider business through a period of growth and development.

This is a broad, hands-on position that requires a technically strong accountant who is comfortable operating across both transactional and strategic finance activities within a multi-entity group environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of consolidated financial statements across multiple legal entities
• Group consolidation and month-end reporting
• Production of quarterly management accounts
• Ownership of fixed assets
• Preparation and submission of VAT returns
• Payroll processing for around 30 employees
• Oversight of day-to-day transactional finance activities
• Development and enhancement of financial reporting processes, controls and management information
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
• Monitoring actual performance against budgets and analysing variances
• Working closely with operational stakeholders to improve financial visibility and profitability
• Supporting business planning, investment initiatives and commercial decision-making
• Business partnering with managers across the organisation to provide financial insight and challenge
• Liaising with external accountants and advisors regarding statutory reporting requirements
• Driving continuous improvement across finance systems, procedures and reporting frameworks

About You

• Fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or qualified by experience (QBE)
• Strong technical accounting background with proven group consolidation experience
• Experience producing consolidated financial statements within a multi-entity environment
• Comfortable managing both transactional accounting and higher-level financial reporting responsibilities
• Previous experience within an SME or owner-managed business environment
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Able to work independently and take ownership of the finance function
• Experience of Xero would be advantageous
