Housing Support Officer

We are recruiting on behalf of a growing supported living organisation in Wiltshire that specialises in providing accommodation and support to ex-military veterans, helping to reduce homelessness and support residents as they transition back into civilian life.
They are looking for an experienced Housing Support Officer to join the team on an initial 3-month temporary contract, with the opportunity to apply for a permanent position as the organisation continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities of a Housing Support Officer:
- Provide housing and tenancy-related support to residents.
- Carry out regular welfare checks and respond to any concerns.
- Support residents with Housing Benefit, Universal Credit and welfare matters.
- Complete sign-ups, inductions and tenancy paperwork.
- Coordinate and support new resident move-ins.
- Complete risk assessments, support plans and reviews.
- Support tenancy sustainment and help residents maintain their accommodation.
- Liaise with local authorities, housing teams, benefits departments and external agencies.
- Identify and escalate safeguarding, welfare and tenancy concerns.
- Maintain accurate records and case notes.
- Support residents towards greater independence and suitable move-on accommodation.
- Previous experience in housing, supported housing, supported living, homelessness or a similar service.
- Experience within a housing association or local authority would be advantageous.
- Good understanding of tenancy sustainment and housing-related support.
- Knowledge of Housing Benefit, Universal Credit and welfare support.
- Experience completing welfare checks, risk assessments and support plans.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
- Strong communication, organisation and administration skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage day-to-day responsibilities on-site.
- Empathetic, resilient and professional, with the ability to build positive relationships with residents.
- Experience supporting veterans or ex-military personnel would be advantageous.
3-month temporary contract initially, with the opportunity to apply for a permanent position.
Location: Wiltshire
Hours: Monday–Friday, on-site
Contract: Temporary – 3 months initially
