About this job

Youth Justice Practitioner ApprenticeRole Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Kent County Council's Youth Justice Service as a Youth Justice Practitioner Apprentice. Kent Youth Justice are seeking 8 Youth Justice Practitioner Apprentices who are passionate about making a positive difference to children's lives and promoting a childhood removed from the criminal justice system. Working alongside experienced practitioners, you will learn how to deliver trauma-informed interventions that support children to build on their individual strengths and achieve positive outcomes.

We are looking for motivated, resilient and enthusiastic individuals to join our service and develop the skills, knowledge and experience needed to support children who may have experienced trauma, adversity and have contact with the criminal justice system. This is a unique opportunity to earn while you learn, undertaking a fully funded Level 5 Youth Justice Practitioner Apprenticeship while gaining valuable practical experience.

Throughout the apprenticeship, you will receive structured training, coaching and mentoring, spending approximately 20% of your working time undertaking workshops, online learning and professional development activities. You will be supported by your Team Manager, colleagues across the Youth Justice Service and apprenticeship provider Unitas.

This apprenticeship offers clear development opportunities, with progression through defined learning stages and corresponding salary progression as knowledge, skills and competencies are achieved. Following successful completion of the apprenticeship, candidates will be eligible to apply for a Youth Justice Practitioner role.

Please note that due to the nature of this role, applicants must be aged 18 or over and that completion of the apprenticeship does not guarantee a permanent post within the service.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service. This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
