Job summary
The purpose of this job is to undertake routine and specialist respiratory function testing in a variety of clinical settings. Interpret results and provide accurate reports. Perform calibration and quality control procedures on all laboratory equipment. Update own professional knowledge. Participate in clinical audit of activities. Participate in departmental research.
Main duties of the job
To plan, undertake and perform interpretation on a range of diagnostic assessments and treatment interventions. Such investigations and treatment interventions could include: Spirometry, peak flow measurements/PEF diaries; Gas transfer factor testing; Static lung volumes via body plethysmography; Reversibility of airways obstruction with bronchodilators; Field exercise tests (e.g. 6 minute walk test); Respiratory Muscle Assessments Overnight oximetry Score and report Polygraphy Arterial Blood gas performance and analysis / Capillary blood gas performance and analysis; FENO CPET leading (with a view to working to B7 Level) CPAP setup and CPAP Review's New sleep patients consultations NIV set up ( under band 7 supervision)
