The closing date is 19 November 2026
Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paediatric Nurse to join our well-established Paediatric Respiratory and Asthma Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team at the Evelina London Children's Hospital and Royal Brompton Hospital sites.
The successful candidate will work as a highly specialised nurse working with children and young people with Asthma and other respiratory chronic conditions. The post holder will be expected to deliver care both in the community and in the hospital setting.
The post involves working autonomously with children and families on the ward, in clinics on the Royal Brompton Hospital site and in the community carrying out home and school visits when required. You would also support nursing colleagues in other trusts and in the community as well as supporting the child to access school.
We are looking for a proactive, self-motivated experienced paediatric registered nurse with a passion for their career to take on the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist. Ideally, you will have experience of looking after children with Asthma or other chronic respiratory conditions. You will be sharing our Trust values and are enthusiastic, professional, caring, and compassionate with clinical competence caring for our children.
Main duties of the job
As a member of the Paediatric Respiratory and Asthma team you will utilise your developed specialist knowledge and skills from the ward environment to support specialist advice, counselling and supportive care to patients and their families.
You will support the link between the Asthma service and the ward areas, leading biologic clinics, providing education to both children, families and staff, supporting seamless admission and complex discharges. You will also work to support the wider multi-disciplinary team to optimise condition management in the community; communicating with schools, local hospitals and safeguarding.
The role will develop your skills as an autonomous practitioner whilst developing your specialist knowledge and skills to be able to contribute to service improvements though audit, service reviews, projects, and teaching.
The successful candidate will work in collaboration with an existing CNS team to act as a resource of expert advice for other healthcare professionals and must be competent to deliver health promotion and education to parents, their families, and others.
Educate and empower children and families to learn the skills to self-manage their condition and care.
