Job summary

Interview date - Monday 30 November 2026 - On site at Churchill Hospital

Are you an experienced GPhC technical pharmacist ready to help shape the future of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs), aseptics, clinical trials and pharmaceutical manufacturing?

We are looking for an Accountable Pharmacist for Clinical Trials Aseptic Unit and Lead for Manufacturing to join Oxford University Hospitals at an exciting time of development within our specialist pharmacy services.

As Accountable Pharmacist for Clinical Trials Aseptic Services (CTAS), you will lead the delivery of aseptically prepared medicines for clinical trials and specialist care, while providing expert leadership across ATMPs and our licensed manufacturing services.

ATMPs are a key part of this opportunity. You will lead our temporary dedicated ATMP unit, support the development of this emerging service and help shape best practice for the safe handling and supply of innovative therapies. You will also support the development and lead the commissioning of a new Pharmacy Clinical Trials Aseptic facility including dedicated ATMP cleanrooms.

You do not need to have worked with ATMPs previously. ATMP experience is desirable rather than essential, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced aseptic or manufacturing pharmacist looking to develop expertise in this evolving field.

Main duties of the job

As Accountable Pharmacist for CTAS, you will lead and coordinate the unlicensed unit providing injectable Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) and selected high-risk injectable medicines across the Trust.

You will:

  • Lead and develop aseptic services, ensuring appropriate technical, professional and regulatory standards.
  • Lead and develop ATMP aseptic services, ensuring appropriate technical, professional and regulatory standards.
  • Support clinical teams with expert advice on the safe handling, supply and governance of aseptic doses including ATMPs.
  • Lead the commissioning and operational delivery of the new dedicated Pharmacy Clinical Trials Aseptic facility.
  • Support the set-up and delivery of clinical trials involving aseptically prepared IMPs and ATMPs.
  • Provide senior leadership across Radiopharmacy and Hyperpolarising Gas manufacturing services, ensuring compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with Pharmacy Quality Assurance, research teams, sponsors and clinical colleagues.
  • Develop and support multidisciplinary teams and act as a source of specialist technical expertise across the Trust.

Above all, you will ensure that patient safety and experience remain at the heart of these specialist services while helping OUH develop its capability to deliver novel and advanced therapies.
