Financial Controller – 12 Month FTC

Location: Tamworth

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000

Contract: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

The Opportunity

We’re working with an established business in Tamworth that is looking to appoint an experienced Financial Controller on a 12-month fixed term contract.

Working closely with the Finance Director, this is a broad and hands-on role with responsibility for the day-to-day running of the finance function, managing the team and ensuring the business has accurate and timely financial information.

Alongside overseeing the core finance function, you’ll work closely with colleagues across the wider business, providing commercial insight and helping to improve processes, controls and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support the finance team, ensuring workloads and priorities are effectively managed.
• Oversee the core transactional finance function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash management.
• Take ownership of the month-end process and production of monthly management accounts.
• Produce meaningful management information, KPIs, analysis and commentary for senior stakeholders.
• Maintain oversight of the general ledger and ensure balance sheet controls are robust.
• Manage key accruals and other commercial accounting processes.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and wider business planning.
• Lead on year-end requirements, working with external auditors as required.
• Ensure VAT returns and other statutory reporting requirements are completed accurately.
• Partner with operational and commercial teams, providing financial analysis to support decision-making.
• Contribute to wider Group finance requirements and reporting.
• Review existing processes and controls, identifying opportunities to make the finance function more efficient and effective.

About You

We’re looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with previous experience operating at Financial Controller level or within a similarly broad senior finance role.

You’ll ideally have:

• Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Previous experience managing and developing a finance team.
• A good understanding of financial controls and statutory requirements.
• Strong commercial awareness and the confidence to work with stakeholders outside of finance.
• A hands-on approach and willingness to get involved in the detail when needed.
• Experience of improving finance processes and ways of working.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• The confidence to join a business and add value quickly.
