Apply for this job

Job summary

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 12 MONTHS DUE TO MATERNITY COVER.

If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone who is enthusiastic and passionate about patient safety and the management of medicines.

This is a challenging and rewarding role involving the development, education, leadership and support of healthcare professionals working with medicines across the secondary care site and liaising with other sites and teams across the Health Board.

You should be self-motivated with excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with senior clinical staff, members of the multidisciplinary team across all directorates of the site. You will need to develop good working relationships between nursing, pharmacy and other clinical staff and be able to influence, design and implement improvement in medicines management practices.

Main duties of the job

You must have a comprehensive understanding of current medicines management initiatives within the NHS modernisation agenda and also an understanding of legislation governing medicines management, e.g. Patient Group Directions and Non-Medical Prescribing.

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a real impact on patient safety through supporting the investigation of medicines-related incidents, fostering a no blame culture and helping teams learn from both successes and challenges. Working closely with healthcare professionals, you will help identify opportunities for improvement, facilitate the sharing of learning, and support the development of safer systems and processes. If you are passionate about fostering a culture of continuous improvement, supporting colleagues, and turning learning into positive change, this role will provide a rewarding opportunity to influence safe medication practice.

Our aim is to maximise your potential within our friendly and welcoming pharmacy team, and you will be encouraged and supported to develop professionally by undertaking qualifications relevant to your role.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

This post is advertised as full time, but part-time applications will be considered.
