Some children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs find attending a traditional school environment challenging. With the right support, encouragement, and opportunities, they can rebuild confidence, develop independence, and re-engage with learning.

We are seeking passionate, resilient, and experienced SEN Support Workers to provide personalised enrichment-based support to young people outside the traditional classroom setting.

The Role

As an SEN Support Worker, you will deliver bespoke, activity-based sessions designed around each young person's individual interests, strengths, and needs. Working on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis, you will help learners build confidence, resilience, social skills, and independence through engaging enrichment activities.

This is a term-time role, with sessions delivered during school hours, typically 3 to 5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging enrichment activities tailored to individual interests and needs
• Support children and young people with SEN and SEMH needs on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis
• Transport and accompany learners to enrichment activities and community-based sessions
• Build positive, consistent relationships that promote personal development and engagement
• Work collaboratively with families, education professionals, and support teams
• Maintain accurate session records, risk assessments, and progress reports
• Contribute to individual learning and support plans
• Ensure safeguarding procedures and reporting requirements are followed at all times
• Manage your schedule effectively and demonstrate excellent reliability and punctuality

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs
• Ability to work independently and deliver child-centred support
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries while creating trust and engagement
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
• Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• Up-to-date safeguarding knowledge and a strong commitment to child welfare
