Job summary

The post will be based at Denmark Hill and the proposed Job Plan is attached (this is subject to change)

There will be a minimum of 10 programmed activities; 8.5 Programmed Activities of Direct Clinical Care, with 1.5 Programmed Activity being allocated for Supporting Professional Activities which includes 0.5 SPA for Educational Supervision. Weekend working is planned and will be part of the 10 PA allocation. The appropriate supplement will be paid for any on-call commitment. The job plan is based on the provision of a Consultant delivered service seven days a week and into the evening in accordance with principles of Acute Medicine endorsed by the Royal College of Physicians and NHS England (London). The weekend/ on-call/ out-of-hours commitment may evolve as the establishment is increased and Modernising Medicine optimises clinical pathways. Currently the Acute Physicians (by rotation) support the Acute Medical take extended hours Monday to Friday with planned attendance at weekends to cover the Ambulatory Care Unit and AMU. Weekend take duties are currently under review. It is envisaged these will be shared across the acute and general physicians with all consultants making a contribution to the overnight on-call rota. These duties are subject to change as the needs of the trust, care group and department evolves and develops; any substantial change to working practice would form part of a formal job planning review.
