Pershore Medical Practice Medical Secretary

Job summary
We are looking for a part-time medical secretary for 19.5 hours a week over 2-3 days. The role would be to provide a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to GPs and other healthcare professionals. The role includes managing correspondence, processing referrals, maintaining accurate patient records, and ensuring confidentiality while delivering a high standard of administrative support.

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Audio and copy typing of medical correspondence, reports, and letters.
- Process GP referrals through the NHS electronic referral system e-RS and other referral pathways.
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including hospital letters and clinical documents.
- Maintain accurate patient records using the practice clinical system EMIS Web.
- Liaise with hospitals, community services, patients, and other healthcare professionals regarding appointments and referrals.
- Monitor referral tracking and follow up outstanding appointments or results where appropriate.
- Handle telephone and email enquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Scan, file, and accurately code documents into patient records, as required.
- Ensure compliance with NHS policies, GDPR, and practice confidentiality procedures.
- Support the practice team with general administrative duties.
- Participate in practice meetings and mandatory training, as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of administrative processes.

We are located in the heart of the market town of Pershore, on Queen Elizabeth Drive. The building provides modern consulting and examination rooms and also includes Pershore Community Hospital and community clinic provided by Worcestershire Health and Care Trust.
We look after over 11,000 patients in Pershore and the surrounding villages. Our aim is to provide high quality modern medical care; to enable easy access to a full range of services, in an attractive environment and atmosphere.
We are part of the Pershore and Upton Primary Care Network.
The practice has 11 GPs, 1 GP Registrar, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 5 Specialist Practice Nurses, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 Clinical Pharmacist, 3 Pharmacy Technicians, 1 Nurse Associate, 1 Healthcare Assistants and 1 Phlebotomist.
