Are you an experienced Children's Social Worker with expertise in statutory Cared for Children (CLA/LAC) services and age assessment practice?
Trafford Council is recruiting a skilled Social Worker to join their dedicated Cared for Children Service. Offering up to £39.00 per hour for experienced candidates, this role combines core statutory Cared for Children case management with specialist support for Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC), including conducting Merton-compliant Age Assessments.
Key Responsibilities:-
Cared for Children Caseload: Manage a caseload of Cared for Children (CLA), completing statutory care plans, pathway plans, and regulatory review processes.

Age Assessments & UASC Practice: Undertake lawful, Merton-compliant Age Assessments and deliver tailored statutory support to Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children.

Permanency & Transitions: Drive clear permanency planning and support young people as they navigate identity, trauma, and transition into independent adulthood.

Multi-Agency Advocacy: Work collaboratively with health, education, legal representatives, and Home Office partners to ensure safe, stable placements.

Qualifications & SWE: Qualified Social Worker with active registration with Social Work England (SWE).

Specialist Experience: Proven post-qualifying experience in statutory Children Looked After / Cared for Children (CLA/LAC) teams.

Age Assessment Capability: Direct experience completing statutory Age Assessments and working with UASC cohorts.

Mobility: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for community visits across Trafford and surrounding areas.

Top Hourly Rate: Up to £39.00 per hour for experienced practitioners.

Varied Practice Mix: Maintain a core Cared for Children caseload while utilising specialist UASC assessment skills.

Supportive Environment: Work within a progressive Greater Manchester authority with manageable workloads and hybrid flexibility.
