Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly and supportive GP practice team on a 6-month fixed-term maternity cover contract to start August 2026.

25 hours a week - 8am -1pm, Monday - Friday

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled HCA who is confident in delivering high-quality patient care within a primary care setting. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the clinical team and ensuring patients receive efficient and professional care.

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will support the practice team in delivering a range of clinical and administrative tasks, including but not limited to:

phlebotomy.

Conducting ECGs and blood pressure monitoring.

Performing NHS Health Checks and Enhanced Health checks

Supporting the Practice Nurses with long-term condition management, including diabetes, AF, and hypertension obs reviews.

Carrying out height, weight, and BMI measurements.

Processing specimens (urine, swabs) and conducting basic diagnostic tests.

Providing lifestyle advice to patients, including smoking cessation and weight management.

Updating and maintaining patient records accurately in the clinical system.

  • Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a GP surgery.
