TheBusiness Support Officer (BSO) is a key operational and administrative role that supports the effective running of the Staffordshire Families Health & Wellbeing Service 0-19 by providing business, performance, governance, workforce, financial, and administrative support to the Service Manager and operational teams.
The post holder acts as a central point for coordinating information, monitoring performance, maintaining systems and records, and ensuring services operate efficiently and comply with Trust and NHS requirements. The role combines strong administration skills with data analysis, reporting, governance support, and service improvement responsibilities
Main duties of the job
- Provide comprehensive business and administrative support to Service Manager.
- Collect, validate, analyse, and report operational, workforce, activity, and performance data.
- Produce reports, dashboards, audits, presentations, and management information to support decision-making.
- Monitor service performance, waiting lists, compliance targets, and data quality, escalating concerns where appropriate.
- Support governance activities, including risk registers, audits, inspections, and CQC requirements.
- Maintain accurate records, databases, and reporting systems in line with Trust and NHS standards.
- Support workforce monitoring, including mandatory training, appraisals, sickness absence, and compliance reporting.
- Develop and improve administrative processes, standard operating procedures, and reporting arrangements.
- Provide guidance and support to staff on the use of digital systems and reporting processes.
- Draft correspondence, briefing papers, service updates, and meeting documentation.
- Build effective relationships with clinical, operational, corporate, and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives through analysis, reporting, and process review.

- OCR/ RSA III or equivalent.
- Advanced computer literacy/skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint).

- BTEC Diploma in Business Administration

- Significant experience in administration duties.
- Experience of collecting, validating, analysing, and reporting performance or operational information using electronic systems and spreadsheets..
- Ability to plan, schedule and organise day to day work.
- Experience of supporting digital systems, reporting processes, or service improvement initiatives.

- Knowledge/Experience of NHS Systems.
- Experience of supporting projects.
- Experience in the NHS or similar public sector environment.
