Main duties of the job
Join St Mary's Hospital in Warrington as a Driver & Maintenance Assistant where you will be part of creating a well-presented and safe environment for some of the most vulnerable people in society. As a Driver & Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the facilities are fit for purpose, driving staff and service users to local destinations, gardening, and conducting audits to identify and repair faults ensuring a safe environment for all. You will work alongside an established team, handling maintenance-related tasks and liaising with contractors. There is a commitment to training and developing your career, with support from Elysium Healthcare to achieve your goals. A UK driver's license and previous maintenance experience are required, and you must show courtesy to residents. You will participate in a retaining on-call rota for emergency maintenance, coordinate and support contractors, and monitor vehicle maintenance.

As a Driver & Maintenance Assistant you will be:
- Assisting with ensuring that the service, buildings, facilities and equipment requirements are maintained and fit for purpose
- Utilising good DIY skills to ensure safety of service users is maintained.
- Assisting in regular checks and maintenance.
- Assisting in the repair and maintenance of all buildings.
- Assisting in all decorating.
- Liaising with a manager reporting all faults and defects.
- Participating in a 1 week retaining on-call rota for the purposes of emergency maintenance.
- Coordinating and supporting contractors whilst on site and completing of all paperwork and tool checks.
- Ensuring vehicles are kept clean internally and externally.
- Monitoring and report when vehicle maintenance is due.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Comply with system and procedures.
- Hold a UK drivers license
- Have previous experience within a maintenance role.
- work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Show courtesy and respect to residents at all times to ensure that they enjoy the highest quality of service.
- Attend and participate in training sessions and staff meetings.
Where you will be working:
You will be based at St Mary's Hospital, Warrington, a specialist service providing mental health and Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) rehabilitation for adult men, alongside a male Acute Mental Health Ward.
Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will help individuals with complex needs progress through their recovery journey in a safe, therapeutic and recovery-focused environment. The hospital also offers a range of therapeutic and wellbeing facilities, including a gym and structured activity programmes, providing opportunities to make a meaningful difference every day.
