Job summary
East Sussex Division are pleased to be advertising a full time fixed term Practice Nurse Educator (PNE) role to cover maternity leave until end March 2027 . This is an innovative clinical mental health nursing role which supports the facilitation of a learning environment, embedding a learning culture and works as an addition to other clinical roles.
The PNE role offers the opportunity for registered mental health nurse to work in a clinical leadership role to support and educate the nursing workforce and works to develop competence and confidence of the mental health nursing workforce and improve the quality, safety and effectiveness of care provided to patients.
Main duties of the job
The PNE role will support the development and learning of our nursing workforce with a particular focus on newly qualified nurses. The PNE role will support the supply and retention of registered nurses and the mental health & well being of the workforce.

About us
The East Sussex Division employs over 200 nurses in various settings including urgent care, acute inpatient services for adults, older adults and dementia, complex emotional needs, community based services (in Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams) for adults, older adults and people with dementia.

Job responsibilities
To provide clinical leadership through role modelling and oversight of clinical practice along with support for registered and unregistered nursing staff (including those nurses recruited from overseas), and staff who support nursing delivery.This role seeks to enhance the clinical quality of care and treatment provided by the mental health workforce.Be responsible for the development, delivery, and evaluation of a programme of clinically relevant practice education to support the professional development of the nursing team, with a specific focus on enabling the delivery of high-quality patient/person centred care that is grounded in evidence-based practice and underpinned by national, organisational and trust objectives, guidelines, and policies.Actively support the objectives of the organisational people plan, nursing plan and quality plan.Provide specialist education knowledge to ensure that learning and teaching in clinical practice promotes and supports the Clinical Governance agenda and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards.Offer training and development based on essential skills for service improvement. - Registered mental health nurse with extensive recent clinical experience
- Educated to degree level
- Completion of recognised Supporting Learners in Practice (SLiP) or Practice Assessors study days
- Robust evidence of own personal development, and that of influencing and supporting a learning environment within a team
- Experience in change management
- Audit and research skills
