Pay Rate: £95 - £120 per day
Job Overview:
Supply Staff Ltd is seeking experienced and dedicated Pastoral Support Assistants to work across schools in Somerset. As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you will provide practical and emotional support to pupils, helping them overcome barriers to learning and improve their wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and engagement. You will work closely with teachers, pastoral teams and other school staff to support pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide pastoral and emotional support to pupils who may be experiencing difficulties at school or at home.
* Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and provide consistent support.
* Support pupils with attendance, punctuality, behaviour and engagement.
* Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and positive attitudes towards learning.
* Support pupils who may have additional needs or require additional pastoral support.
* Assist with behaviour management and help promote positive behaviour across the school.
* Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, SEN teams and school leaders.
* Maintain appropriate records and communicate relevant concerns to school staff.
* Follow school safeguarding, behaviour and pastoral procedures.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working with children or young people in a school, educational or youth support setting is required.
* Previous experience in a pastoral, mentoring, behaviour or pupil support role would be highly desirable.
* Strong understanding of the challenges that can affect pupils' attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and engagement.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* Calm, patient and empathetic approach.
* Confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour or additional needs.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
* Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
