Interim Management Accountant – Engineering Business – Hull

Are you an experienced Management Accountant available at short notice and looking for an interim opportunity where you can make an immediate impact?

We are working with a busy and established engineering business based to the west of Hull who are looking to appoint an Interim Management Accountant to provide additional support and capacity within their finance team.

This is an immediate requirement, with a start ideally next week, and the assignment is expected to run through to at least the end of the year.

You will join a well-established accounts team and report directly to the Financial Controller, supporting the business through a particularly busy period. The role will offer plenty of variety, with responsibility for core management accounting activities as well as providing wider support across the finance function where required.

The Role

As Interim Management Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing monthly management accounts
• Supporting the month-end close process
• Preparing and posting month-end journals
• Managing accruals and prepayments
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations
• Financial analysis and investigation of variances
• WIP accounting and analysis
• Supporting reporting requirements
• Providing general management accounting support
• Working closely with the Financial Controller and wider finance team
• Providing additional resource and support wherever the team has the greatest requirement

This is a hands-on interim position, ideally suited to someone who is comfortable getting up to speed quickly, working independently and contributing from day one.

About You

We are looking for a commercially aware and technically capable Management Accountant who is available for an immediate or very near-term start.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in a Management Accountant or similar role
• Strong month-end and management accounting experience
• Experience preparing management accounts
• Good knowledge of journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
• Strong analytical and Excel skills
• Experience with WIP accounting would be advantageous
• The ability to work to tight deadlines in a busy environment
• A hands-on and flexible approach
• The ability to quickly integrate into an established finance team

An accounting qualification or part-qualification would be advantageous, although relevant practical experience will also be considered.

Working Arrangements & Package

• The role is predominantly office-based, although there is some hybrid flexibility available, with the potential to work from home around two days per week.
• Start and finish times can be agreed around typical office hours.
• The day rate is equivalent to approximately £45,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on experience.
