Applications are invited for 02 posts for Consultant Physician in Respiratory & General (Internal) Medicine as part of the Medicine Division here at Darent Valley Hospital.
We are delighted to offer a new and exciting opportunity for substantive Respiratory Consultant to join the Respiratory team at Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust. The position has become available following the approval of a business case for the review, expansion and innovation of our current services.
Main duties of the job
As demand for specialist respiratory care continues to grow across our local population, we are investing in the development and expansion of our Respiratory services. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and forward-thinking Consultant to join our team and play a key role in shaping the future of respiratory care.
Alongside our well-established and comprehensive clinical services, we are particularly keen to strengthen and develop our expertise across a number of key subspecialty areas:

Airways Disease - including COPD and Asthma

Respiratory Infections - including Tuberculosis (TB) and atypical mycobacterial infections

Bronchiectasis
-
Respiratory Support Unit (RSU)
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to service development, support innovation and work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred respiratory care.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will have the option to join the General Physician on-call rota (1 in 16) for non-selected acute take. This consists of post-take ward rounds in the morning and then post-take ward rounds mid-day & evening.
A formal Job Plan will be agreed between the appointee and their Clinical Director, on behalf of the Medical Director, within three months after the commencement date of the appointee. This will be signed by the Clinical Director and will be effective from the commencement date of the appointment. The Job Plan will then be reviewed annually, following the Appraisal meeting.

- GMC Recognised Medical Degree (MBBS or Equivalent).
- MRCP (UK or Ireland) or equivalent.
- CCT in Respiratory & General (Internal) Medicine or be eligible for CCT within 6 months of interview date.
Desirable
- Other degrees, e.g. BSc MSc, MD, PhD.
Experience
Essential
- Full and independent management of clinical patient workload.
Desirable
- Level 1 competent in Pleural Ultrasound
- Sub specialist interest: COPD, Asthma, Pulmonary Nodules, Thoracic Cancer, NIV, Sleep, Pulmonary Hypertension
