Job summary

We are looking for someone to join and lead an existing established Phlebotomy team within Cannock Chase Hospital.

The position is a 25hr post which comprises of 5 x 5hr shifts on a varying shift pattern, therefore flexibility is essential.

The post will combine a mixture of admin duties, such as Rota input and staff training, as well as clinical duties therefore experience in Venepuncture is essential.

We are looking for someone who has experience of supervising a small team, who can support staff and provide optimum patient care.

We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic individual who can bring forward thinking ideas to our very busy department.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the collection of blood samples, they must be experienced in taking blood from all types of patients of all ages from ages 10yrs and upwards.

Undertake Competency assessments of the Venepuncture procedure to all new staff.

Responsible for ensuring mandatory training is completed.

Responsible for Rota input and managing daily sickness within the team.

To participate in Team leader and management meetings, attend and support necessary Safety checks within the department.

Cross site working with New Cross Hospital is mandatory within this role.

To support the recruitment of phlebotomists, induction and orientation programmes.

To observe the working practices of staff at regular intervals to ensure that phlebotomy is being delivered to the required standard.

To be responsible for supervising a phlebotomy team.

To undertake appraisal and develop Personal Development Plans for phlebotomy team
