Wye Valley Surgery Practice Manager

Job summary
Wye Valley Surgery is a well established training practice, and looking for a highly enthusiastic and motivated Practice Manager with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to join the team.
You will be expected to lead and ensure the practice operates effectively to 12,000 patients.
The successful candidate will be confident in managing staff and take overall responsibility for the day to day running of the practice with the support of the Partners and Administrative team.

Main duties of the job
The role requires operational leadership, governance and strategy and ensuring the practice remains responsive to the changing needs of patients. You will have the support of a newly appointed Operations Manager, Patients Services Manager, Senior Administrator and IT lead to work with the team to deliver accessible, safe, and effective primary care.
There is external support for HR.
About us
We are a well established training practice training GP Registrars and undergraduate medical students from Oxford University.
We have 4 Partners, 3 Salaried GPs and a full dedicated Nursing Team. In 2023 we had a Good CQC rating.
We operate from purpose built premises located in Wycombe General Hospital with free parking facilities for staff.

Job responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the smooth running of the practice.
- Lead the HR process, recruitment, checks, contracts, appraisal and performance.
- Manage staffing levels within target budgets and line manage the management team
- Oversee staff induction and training, and ensure that all staff are adequately trained to fulfil their role.
- Support and mentor staff, both as individuals and as team members and encourage team working.
- Support staff with training and development.
- Oversee complaints and significant events.
- Lead on HR issues implementing effective systems for the resolution of disputes and grievances.
- Keep abreast of changes in employment legislation.
- Prepare payroll and pensions ensuring accurate reporting.
- Support the Partnership and keep them informed of developments in primary care and shape strategy.
- Maintain ongoing CQC compliance.
- Support the Patient Participation Group.
- Monitor operational performance and implement improvements where required.
Co-ordinate intra-practice communications within the PCN
First point of contact for members of the PCN and other organisations for the delivery of PCN work, projects and schemes including the recruitment and retention of additional roles reimbursement scheme
Liaise with the Primary Care Network (PCN) and locality commissioners, attend meetings and promote collaborative working.
Monitor and scrutinize contractual and financial requirements for the PCN to protect the practice reputation and income.
