We are looking for a talented and passionate Android Engineer to join a growing FinTech organisation building innovative digital financial services products. You'll play a key role in designing, developing, and enhancing customer-facing Android applications used by thousands of consumers and businesses, helping to deliver secure, scalable, and intuitive mobile experiences.
Working within a collaborative Agile environment, you'll partner with Product Managers, Designers, QA Engineers, and Backend Developers to build new features, optimise performance, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of our mobile platform.
Key Responsibilities- Design, build, and maintain high-quality Android applications using modern Android technologies.
- Develop robust, scalable, and secure mobile solutions that support financial transactions and customer account management.
- Collaborate with Product, UX/UI, and Engineering teams to deliver new features and product enhancements.
- Contribute to application architecture, technical design, and engineering best practices.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Optimise application performance, reliability, and user experience.
- Integrate RESTful APIs and third-party services, including payment platforms and authentication solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and champion high engineering standards across the team.
- Troubleshoot production issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
- Strong commercial experience developing Android applications.
- Expert knowledge of Kotlin and modern Android development.
- Experience with Jetpack Compose.
- Strong understanding of Android Architecture Components and design patterns such as MVVM or Clean Architecture.
- Experience with dependency injection frameworks such as Hilt or Dagger.
- Proficiency with Coroutines and asynchronous programming.
- Experience consuming REST APIs and working with JSON data.
- Familiarity with Git-based source control and Agile delivery methodologies.
- Strong understanding of mobile application security and performance optimisation.
- Experience working within a FinTech, Banking, Payments, InsurTech, or Financial Services environment.
- Knowledge of payment technologies, digital wallets, card payments, Open Banking, or embedded finance.
- Experience with WorkManager, Room, Retrofit, and Firebase.
- Exposure to CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions, Bitrise, CircleCI, or Jenkins.
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical leadership.
- Understanding of accessibility standards and mobile security best practices.
- Delivering high-quality Android features that enhance customer engagement and business value.
- Driving improvements in application performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Contributing to a strong engineering culture through collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
