In your capacity as a line manager, you will be responsible for overseeing some of the experienced ward managers within the hospital, managing the day-to-day operations of the nursing department. Your role will be pivotal in maintaining high standards and facilitating the service's development to reach its full potential. As an experienced member of the nursing team, you should have experience in a similar setting, whether within the NHS or Private Care. You will lead and guide a team of nurses to deliver exceptional care, with support from the Director of Nursing, who will serve as your line manager in this role. Your role will include promoting and safeguarding the well-being of service users, employees, and visitors while ensuring patient care standards are maintained. This position requires extensive experience in similar settings within the NHS or Private Care and includes participation in senior on call arrangements. Part of your role will be formulating and presenting updates that will be required through the hospitals governance processes. You will be responsible to manage resources, supervise senior nurses and form and integral part of the clinical structure in maintaining and developing high standards of care.

- Provide the Director of Nursing with relevant, accurate and timely information required for effective decision making
- Leadership of Nursing Services ensuring highest possible professional standards
- Management of resources within budget allocation
- Supervision of senior nurses
- Direct involvement in the preadmission assessment process
- Direct customer and contract liaison in conjunction with the unit manager
- To comply with individual responsibilities of relevant legislation

- Post Graduate qualification at degree level relevant to healthcare
- Management qualification (DMS or equivalent preferred)
- Registered Nurse with the NMC
- 7 years post qualification experience
- Budgetary and financial management

Where you will be working
Location: Thornford Park, Crookham Hill, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG19 8ET. You will be working at Thornford Park, a 141 bedded independent hospital which supports service users that require medium and low secure Forensic Mental Health Services. In addition to these services there is also a PICU Mental Health Service.
The service provides a seamless internal care pathway supporting and empowering people in their recovery and rehabilitation. Working alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will provide personalised assessment and treatment programmes for males with mental illness/complex care needs as well as those with personality disorder, and females and males in a PICU service.
