Job summary
Applications are invited from enthusiastic and dynamic consultants in Emergency Medicine. Candidates who are eager to explore new and innovative ways of delivering emergency care to our population are encouraged to apply. We are looking for competent clinicians who have a strong work ethic and can demonstrate clinical leadership. They must have experience in process management and innovation. The ability to work in a multidisciplinary team is a priority. The post holder must dual EM and PEM accreditation.
The post holder will work closely with nursing, management, education and speciality colleagues to develop an enhanced emergency care service. This will involve service planning, service development, education and co-operation with stakeholders. The department is undertaking a recruitment drive to improve its provision for emergency patients; this post is part of this strategy. The successful candidate will be expected to work across the Trust sites.
Main duties of the job
In order to provide a more comprehensive service, the Emergency Department consultant team is expanding in number and it is our plan to increase the size of the team further in the next year.
Work in the Emergency Care department with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department.
Work closely with all stake holders, to strengthen relationships and build patient pathways to improve care for emergency patients.
Responsibility for the continuing care & treatment of patients in your charge and personal performance of clinical duties as agreed in your job plan.
Responsible for maintaining GMC standards in all aspects of practice. Adhering to and promoting the Trust's core values.
An exceptional requirement to undertake additional duties for limited periods within South Yorkshire and surrounding areas or undertake duties at other hospitals in the event of a major disaster or incident

- FRCEM or equivalent
- You must be on the specialist register for Emergency Medicine AND Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) or within 6 months of being admitted to the register for trainees, if currently in a training programme in the UK. In accordance with the regulations, all other categories of Doctors must be eligible to be on the GMC specialist register (evidence required prior to commencement) to be considered for a consultant appointment by the Advisory Appointments Committee
- Applicants must continue to hold a Licence to Practise
- Valid ALS or equivalent
- Valid ATLS or equivalent
- Valid EPALS/APLS or equivalent

- Relevant higher degree
