We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Band 3 Specialized therapy assistant post within our Community Integrated Assessment Team (CIAT) Stockton

We are looking for applicants who are dedicated yet flexible in their approach and possess the aptitude to adapt quickly to new situations

The post is a permanent position for 37.5 hours a week and is based predominantly at Billingham Health Centre working within the Stockton and surrounding areas. There maybe on occasions the expectation to cover Hartlepool CIAT

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a multidisciplinary therapy team assisting with the delivery of therapy to patients either within their own homes or a Care Home Setting.

The post holder will work under the direction of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to implement the planned interventions providing rehabilitation to patient's in their own homes or a Care Home Setting. The role involves delivering delegated treatment programme's working independently within agreed competencies.

The role supports Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapists and the wider MDT. Monitoring patients progress and report any changes to the registered therapist. Encouraging patients to achieve their rehabilitation goals and maximising independence for those patients within Stockton and Harlepool area.

The post holder will communicate effectively with all community services, assist in the planning of safe and effective care. The post holder will assist therapists carry out administrative duties associated with the delivery of service

As this is a Trustwide post, the successful candidate may be required to work between the Stockton and Hartlepool localities, but will be initially based at Billingham Health Centre.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ level 3 qualification or willingness to work towards/ or existing relevant experience
  • Educated to GCSE level in Maths and English

Desirable

  • NVQ level 3 in healthrelated subject or equivalent level of qualification
  • Certificate in Health Care Studies, Foundation Degree or relevant qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrate sound basic knowledge and understanding of a broad range of medical conditions/pathologies, particularly those affecting older people

Desirable

  • Experience of prescribing and fitting less complex equipment /adaptations required to meet peoples needs under the supervision of a therapist
  • Clinical Experience of working in therapies
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team

Skills

Desirable

  • Able to work autonomously with arms length supervision
  • Ability to follow a plan and escalate for support appropriately as required
