This is an exciting opportunity to join our teamduring a transformative period,following the successful implementation ofElectronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA)across the trust.

Main duties of the job

As one ofourRotational Pharmacy Technicians,you willgain experience across a variety of pharmacy services, including:

  • Dispensing controlled drugs using electronic registers from automated storage cabinets
  • Providing acontrolled drug top up and replenishment services to theatre areas
  • Developing experiencewithIT Systems including Ascribe, Automated dispensingsystems& Prescription Trackingsystems
  • Supporting the safe and effective management ofmedicinesthrough stock control and inventorymanagement
  • Contributing to medicines optimisationserviceson wards
  • Supportingthetrainingand development of pharmacystaff

This is a varied role that will allow you to develop your technical knowledge, clinical understanding and operational skills whilst working alongside experienced pharmacy professionals.

We are looking for an individual who isa strong teamplayer, able to adapt to changing priorities and committed to delivering a high-quality service. You will need excellent attention to detail,a high levelof accuracy and a clear understanding of the scope and limitations of your role.

You should be able to follow written procedures, work effectively under supervision, prioritise your workload and complete tasks accurately within agreed timescales.

  • NVQ level 3 in Pharmaceutical Services or National BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent nationally recognised qualification plus Accredited underpinning knowledge
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council

Desirable

  • National Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) qualification or requirement to undertake the training
  • Member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year recent experience in either a hospital pharmacy or community pharmacy setting
  • Commitment and evidence of professional updating and continuous professional development
  • Patient counselling skills - pleasant professional manner; knowledge of use of medicines and advising patients; assessing patient's pharmaceutical care needs
