Job summary
This is a full-time Consultant post in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, created due to expansion of services. The successful candidate will work with the current cohort of Consultant Cardiothoracic Anaesthetists to provide care for patients admitted to the Lancashire Cardiac Centre.
The post holder will be employed by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and will be professionally accountable to the Clinical Leads for Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care. The post holder will be managerially accountable through the Medical Director to the Chief Executive.
The Cardiothoracic Directorate consists of the Departments of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Cardiology, Cardiac Theatres and Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CITU), and forms part of the Surgery, Women and Children's Division (SWaC).

The Trust provides tertiary cardiothoracic facilities for the 1.6 million people of Lancashire and South Cumbria. The Trust executive team and divisional board are committed to supporting cardiothoracic services and have recently created a new division for the tertiary services.
Blackpool is a vibrant seaside holiday destination for around 16 million visitors a year and is surrounded by beautiful countryside, rural villages and market towns and has rapid access to the main motorway network. It is less than an hour's drive to the beautiful Lake District and Beacon Fell national parks, Manchester airport is within an hour's drive with international connections. There are good rail connections through the nearby West Coast mainline.
