Job summary

The Dovecot Surgery is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Salaried GP to become part of our dedicated clinical team. We are seeking a GP who shares our passion for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and who values working within a friendly, supportive, and forward-thinking practice environment.

Serving approximately 4,000 patients, The Dovecot Surgery is proud to provide accessible, personalised healthcare to our local community while maintaining a positive and collaborative workplace culture for all staff.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to our patients
  • Deliver routine GP consultations and associated clinical administration
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team
  • Participate in clinical meetings and practice development initiatives
  • Support teaching and learning within the practice where appropriate
  • Contribute positively to the continued growth and success of the practice

Job description

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP in delivering health services.

a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

b. The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract

c. To clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly referring patients to other services/agencies in a timely manner, utilising Practice and any other local guidelines

d. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

e. Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care

f. Effective management of long-term conditions

g. To support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care

h. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

i. Review medications following the appropriate policies, NICE and local clinical guidelines and local care pathways

j. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

k. Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

l. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

m. Support the delivery of anticipatory care plans

n. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

o. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area, or areas. or the QOF, as required.

p. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

q. Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training

r. Be aware of your duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures on Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children

s. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

t. Prepare and complete the revalidation process to remain fit to practice

u. Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

v. Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies

w. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement

x. To be an integral part of the general practice team as well as supporting the wider network and multi-disciplinary team

y. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks, this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels
