Interim Financial Controller

Axon Moore are currently recruiting for an Interim Financial Controller to bring order, rigour and pace to a month-end process — and to get it fit for purpose ahead of a new finance systems implementation.

This is a genuinely varied role. You'll be joining a fast paced and growing business in Halesowen and you will have real ownership to rebuild the month end process. If you enjoy rolling your sleeves up, fixing what's broken, and then building something scalable, this is for you.

The Role

Month-end clean-up & rebuild

• Own the monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations and ensure all control accounts are fully reconciled monthly
• Review and overhaul the current month-end close process, identifying inefficiencies, bottlenecks and control gaps
• Design and document a streamlined, repeatable close timetable with clear ownership and deadlines
• Standardise journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations to a consistent, audit-ready standard
• Work closely with the wider finance team to prepare processes and data structures ahead of the upcoming systems implementation
• Act as a key finance stakeholder in the system implementation project, ensuring new processes are built with month-end efficiency in mind

About You

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager, ideally in a fast-growing or fast-paced environment
• A track record of improving or rebuilding finance processes, not just running existing ones
• Highly organised, deadline-driven, and comfortable working at pace
• Strong communicator who can work confidently with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
• Hands-on mindset — happy to be in the detail as well as managing the bigger picture
• Available at short notice.
