About the role and school

Teach Plus are currently working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Southall, West London, who are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a full-time basis, starting ASAP. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) who is passionate about supporting pupils, raising attainment and contributing positively to the wider school community. The successful Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) will play an important role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, working closely with class teachers and providing targeted support to pupils.

The school is a well-established two-form entry primary school serving a diverse and vibrant local community in Southall. The school has a strong inclusive ethos and places a clear emphasis on ensuring every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential. The leadership team is supportive and committed to staff development, while the school promotes positive behaviour, high expectations and a broad, engaging curriculum. This Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) opportunity would suit an experienced teaching assistant, HLTA or education professional who is confident supporting pupils across the primary age range and can demonstrate strong classroom management and communication skills. The successful Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) will have the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities, deliver targeted interventions and make a meaningful contribution to pupil progress within a supportive primary school setting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support teachers with the delivery of engaging lessons and high-quality lessons to whole classes, across the school (EYFS - KS2)
  • Lead small-group and targeted interventions to support pupils' academic progress and development.
  • Provide effective classroom cover and deliver pre-planned lessons when required.
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Work closely with class teachers and the wider school team to monitor pupil progress and identify individual learning needs.
  • Support pupils with their social, emotional and educational development, encouraging confidence and independence.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or in a similar role
  • Strong subject/curriculum knowledge relevant to the role
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service
  • Right to work in the UK
