We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing engineering business looking to add a Purchase Ledger Clerk to its friendly finance team.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, takes pride in accuracy and is looking for a part-time position offering 18 hours per week across three days. Working on-site, you'll become an integral member of the finance function, ensuring suppliers are paid accurately and on time while supporting the wider team with a variety of finance administration tasks.
The RoleAs Purchase Ledger Clerk, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day purchase ledger, maintaining accurate financial records and building positive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Process purchase invoices accurately, including coding and VAT allocation.
- Create and maintain supplier accounts and keep supplier records up to date.
- Prepare BACS and cheque payment runs.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies.
- Resolve supplier queries promptly and professionally.
- Process employee expenses and petty cash transactions.
- Support month-end and year-end activities, audits and wider finance administration.
- Work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure the smooth running of the purchase ledger function.
You'll be organised, detail-oriented and enjoy working within a collaborative finance team.
Ideally, you'll have:
- At least two years' experience in a Purchase Ledger, Accounts Payable or Finance Assistant role.
- Experience working within an accounts department or accountancy practice.
- AAT studies in progress, AAT qualified, or qualified through experience.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach.
- Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- SAP experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise your workload effectively.
- FTC until December 2026 - with the possibility of becoming permanent
- Part-time hours (18 hours across 3 days).
