Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our established school age team and support with the experts at hand delivery model for children with SEND. You will have clinical skills in supporting the communication needs and development of school aged children.

Our wider SLT staff work across a variety of inpatient and community settings. We also benefit from being part of a large SLT service which includes adult services and amazing admin support.

We welcome informal visits and discussions about this role.

Main duties of the job

To work in collaboration with the Head of Service in planning, coordinating delivering and evaluating the Speech & Language Therapy provided to children, young people and their families within Wolverhampton on a day-to-day basis.

To jointly manage and lead a team of staff providing a Therapy service to CYP in a designated clinical/organisational area, primarily regarding Experts at Hand. The post holder will ensure that the service provided by the team is CYP-centred, effective and of a high quality.

The role will play a key part in delivering the Experts at Hand programme, working with schools and education partners to strengthen inclusive mainstream education, support earlier identification of speech, language and communication needs, and improve educational participation and outcomes. The post-holder will also work collaboratively with education, local authority and SEND partners to support SEND reform, influence system-wide developments and help shape innovative, sustainable pathways of care across Wolverhampton.

To provide specialist SLT assessment diagnosis and treatment of Children and Young People (CYP). To ensure the delivery of highly specialist care to all CYP in the Wolverhampton according to clinical priorities and as required by the Head of Service.

To maintain close working relationships with other health and education professionals /referrers to ensure efficient, effective and appropriate delivery of the service.
