Job summary
Library Assistant - 35 hours per week
This role will work across two NHS organisations - Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. The role will be hosted by Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and therefore, whilst working across two sites for both organisations, your employment contract will be with Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. The duties will be the same at each Trust.
Knowledge and Library Services (KLS) facilitate access to the most up-to-date and relevant healthcare information. This enables high quality, evidence-based decision-making in patient care, personal development for our colleagues and research innovation activity across our trusts. This role is based in the library at each hospital site and involves all aspects of working on a library enquiry desk.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be the first point of contact for library users, both in-person and online. You will work with a small, highly motivated KLS team to provide exceptional customer service to NHS colleagues ensuring they can access the information they need. You will play a key role in promoting the library service and resources, raising awareness within the trusts and encouraging their use, with the end goal of improving patient care. You will be a strong communicator who is confident and can communicate well with a broad range of colleagues, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. The post holder will provide administrative support for the team and carry out duties such as book ordering and processing.
