Mobile Plant Operative - Loading Shovel

Are you an experienced Mobile plant operative with a Loading Shovel licence within the Construction industry? Do you consider yourself to be proactive and an asset to a busy team? Are you based in or around Somerset?

We have a temporary Mobile Plant Operative role available with Holcim. The successful applicant will be someone familiar with the Construction or Heavy Industry environment and is capable of handling hazardous material, working in all weather and operating a loading shovel

Role: Mobile Plant Operative - Loading Shovel

Location: Holcim, Callow Rock Block Works, Shipham Gorge', Cheddar, Somerset BS27 3D

Rate: £18.76 per hour

Contract length: 5 weeks potentially longer

Shift Patterns: 3 different shifts on a rota basis (40hrs

Night shift Hours: 10pm till 6am
Morning shift hours: 6am till 2pm
Afternoon shift hours: 2pm till 10pm

Start: ASAP (within 1-2 weeks)

Responsibilities:

• Operate Machinery: Drive wheeled loading shovels safely across quarries
• Load Vehicles: Fill HGV lorries, articulated trucks, and hoppers with bulk materials.
• Manage Stockpiles: Organize, monitor, and maintain material stockpiles
• Promote site health and safety at all times
• Ensure site housekeeping is maintained to highest standard.

Essential requirements:

• B2 Licence or Loading shovel licence a valid CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) or NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) loading shovel card
• Previous experience (2+ years) within the Construction or Heavy Industry environment
• Ability to adhere to the shift pattern detailed above
• Strong knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation
• CSCS card would be an advantage
• Good verbal and written communication skill
