Interim Senior Tax Manager
South West England | 6-Month Contract | c.£75,000-£80,000 FTE equivalent, PAYE/Umbrella)
Robert Half is recruiting an Interim Senior Tax Manager on behalf of a leading institution in the South West. This is a 6-month engagement within a well-established Finance team, ideal for an experienced tax professional who can hit the ground running.
The Role
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Interim Senior Tax Manager will oversee all aspects of tax compliance and reporting, acting as the organisation's subject matter expert on tax matters. You'll lead a small tax team and work closely with the Senior Financial Accountant to support the year-end audit process, including tax calculations and financial statement preparation for all subsidiaries.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing the tax team, ensuring accurate, timely compliance with internal and external reporting deadlines
- Completing tax computations for the organisation and its subsidiaries
- Supporting the financial year-end and external audit process
- Identifying tax savings and structural efficiencies aligned with wider strategic aims
- Acting as technical tax expert, advising internal stakeholders and mitigating tax risk
- Representing Finance at relevant committees and working groups, deputising for the Director of Finance where required
About You
- CCAB qualified accountant
- Recognised tax qualification, or substantial relevant tax accounting experience gained within a large/complex finance function
- Proven experience leading and developing a team
- Available to start at short notice
- Strong technical knowledge with the ability to explain tax concepts to non-finance stakeholders
Desirable: experience within Higher Education, charity or not-for-profit sectors; knowledge of HE/charity tax legislation.
The Package
c.£75,000-£80,000 FTE equivalent), engaged via PAYE or potentially day rate via Umbrella
