Help Learners Develop Essential Skills for Education and Employment
We're looking for a Functional Skills Tutor to support children and young people in Aldershot and the surrounding Hampshire area through personalised 1:1 tuition.
Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll support learners who require alternative educational provision, helping them develop key English and Maths skills, increase confidence, and work towards meaningful educational outcomes. Many of the young people supported have faced barriers to learning and benefit from a personalised, flexible approach that meets their individual needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for education professionals who enjoy seeing the direct impact of their support and helping learners make practical, measurable progress.
- Location: Aldershot & Surrounding Hampshire Areas
- Subject: Functional Skills (English & Maths)
- Start Date: September
- Hours: Flexible
- Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour
- Type: 1:1 Tuition
Requirements
- Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, mentoring, learning support, or similar roles
- Experience delivering or supporting Functional Skills English and/or Maths
- Ability to adapt sessions to suit individual learning needs
- Experience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, reliable, and engaging approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
- Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally within the Aldershot area

You'll work with children and young people who may have:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- ADHD
- Anxiety and school avoidance
- EHCPs and additional educational needs
Each learner has their own goals and challenges, making this a varied and rewarding role for tutors who enjoy delivering personalised support.
