Are you an experienced Children's Social Work Team Manager looking for your next locum opportunity?

Barking & Dagenham Council is looking for an experienced Team Manager to join its Family Support & Safeguarding Team on an initial 3-6 month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a creative and innovative service, working alongside motivated and committed colleagues who are passionate about improving outcomes for children and families.

The Role

As Team Manager, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of high-quality social work services to children and families, ensuring statutory requirements, quality standards and best practice are consistently achieved.

You will:

Lead and manage a team of social workers, ensuring high-quality safeguarding and social work practice.
Provide regular supervision, support and professional guidance to team members.
Ensure children and families receive appropriate, timely and needs-led services.
Monitor the quality and standard of professional practice across the team.
Ensure statutory duties, legislation, national guidance and local procedures are followed.
Support effective performance management and continuous improvement.
Contribute to the development and implementation of operational guidance and practice standards.
Work closely with the Service Manager and wider management team.
Represent the Council within multi-agency partnerships and meetings where required.
Ensure the service responds effectively to changing national and local priorities.
Promote a positive, supportive and professional team culture.

About You:

We're looking for an experienced Team Manager who can provide strong leadership and drive high standards of practice.

Essential requirements:

Social Work England registration.
Minimum 3 years permanent post-qualifying experience in a local authority childrens social care setting, in line with current DfE requirements for agency child and family social workers.
Previous Team Manager / management experience within childrens social care.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and statutory childrens social care.
Excellent understanding of relevant legislation, statutory guidance and social work practice.
Experience providing effective supervision, performance management and professional development.
Strong leadership, communication and multi-agency working skills.
A commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
