Academics are looking for an experienced Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to support vulnerable children in schools across Warrington on a range of short term and long term contracts.
This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, SEN professionals and care workers who are looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people in Runcorn.
The RoleAs a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who may have a range of additional needs, providing tailored support to help them feel safe, confident and able to engage in their learning.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with complex and additional needs.
- Supporting pupils with their learning, communication, emotional wellbeing and social development.
- Assisting with personal care where required, always maintaining dignity, respect and confidentiality.
- Supporting pupils who may display challenging or distressed behaviours using appropriate strategies.
- Working closely with teachers, SEN professionals and other members of the school team.
- Helping to create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
- Encouraging pupils to develop independence and confidence in their everyday lives.
- Following safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times.
We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have:
- Previous experience working within an SEN school or specialist educational setting.
- Experience supporting vulnerable children and young people.
- A background in personal care, ideally within a school, care or support environment.
- Experience working with pupils with complex needs, physical disabilities, autism, communication difficulties or challenging behaviour.
- Excellent patience, empathy and communication skills.
- A calm, caring and nurturing approach.
- The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people.
- A genuine passion for helping pupils reach their potential.
Candidates with a background in care will be particularly welcomed, especially those with experience as a Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, Care Worker or similar role. Your transferable skills can be incredibly valuable within a specialist school environment.
